A brief introduction to the American civil rights movement, including the background to the civil rights movement, how it unfolded, and who its key figures were. This lesson considers the Supreme Court decisions that laid the foundations for the civil rights movement and the work of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Additionally, it introduces the work of some of the earliest and most famous civil rights activists.
